About Skate St George’s
Skate St George’s is Underbelly’s festive event on St George’s Plateau in the heart of Liverpool. The event brings together a seasonal ice rink, Christmas Tree Maze, bars, market traders, rides and other festive attractions to create a major city-centre Christmas destination.
Underbelly is looking for enthusiastic and personable Bar Staff to join our team for the festive season.
Role Overview
Bar Staff are responsible for delivering friendly, efficient and responsible service within Underbelly’s bars at Skate St George’s.
This is a busy public-facing role requiring excellent customer service, teamwork and the ability to maintain high standards during peak trading periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, efficient and professional service to customers.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with Underbelly procedures.
- Operate EPOS and payment systems accurately.
- Follow all Challenge 25 and responsible alcohol retailing procedures.
- Check identification where required and refuse service appropriately when necessary.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of the products available.
- Keep bar areas clean, organised, well stocked and presentable.
- Replenish stock and assist with stock movements as directed.
- Carry out opening and closing duties.
- Follow cash-handling and payment procedures.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety.
- Support responsible drinking and report any customer welfare concerns to supervisors, management or Security.
- Work with Security and management when dealing with intoxicated or challenging customers.
- Report breakages, spillages, hazards and maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all licensing conditions and instructions from Bar Supervisors and Managers.
- Work flexibly across Underbelly’s bars within the event where rostered.
- Support colleagues across the wider event operation where reasonably required.
- Follow Underbelly policies, procedures and Code of Conduct.
- Help create a welcoming and enjoyable festive atmosphere for customers.
Person Specification
Essential
- Friendly, enthusiastic and confident working with members of the public.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy environment.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Able to remain professional when dealing with challenging customers.
- Comfortable working in outdoor or semi-outdoor environments during winter.
- Able to work evenings, weekends and throughout the busy Christmas and New Year period as required.
Desirable
- Previous bar, hospitality, festival or event experience.
- Previous experience using an EPOS system.
- Knowledge of Challenge 25 and responsible alcohol retailing.
- Relevant licensing, food hygiene or hospitality training.
