Rate of Pay: £16.00/hr (plus holiday pay)
Dates of Work: Part-time from 27th October 2025 – 6th January 2026
Available Contracts: 20-40 hours/week
Christmas in Leicester Square is introducing a high-profile, temporary outdoor ice rink in the heart of London’s West End. As the Ice Rink Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the rink, ensuring a safe, smooth, and enjoyable experience for all guests while managing a seasonal team and maintaining the highest standards in safety and customer service.
You will work closely with the Duty Site Managers, who oversees the wider site (including bars and Christmas market), and with the onsite paramedic, who will provide medical support whenever the rink is open.
Role
Operational Management
- Lead daily rink operations during your shift, including opening/closing, skate hire, ice checks, and safety supervision.
- Oversee session timings and coordinate with the box office team on capacity and bookings.
- Monitor ice conditions and escalate maintenance needs to the Ice Rink Manager or contractors.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures, licensing conditions, and company policies.
Staff Supervision
- Supervise and support ice rink marshalls and skate hire staff during shifts.
- Deliver daily briefings to staff and ensure duties are carried out to a high standard.
- Act as the main point of contact for staff queries in the Ice Rink Manager’s absence.
- Support rota management by monitoring attendance and reporting staffing issues.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Carry out regular checks of the ice rink and skate hire area.
- Work with the onsite paramedic to ensure prompt response to any incidents.
- Complete accident and incident reports as required.
- Escalate site-wide emergencies to the Duty Site Manager.
Customer Experience
- Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service.
- Handle customer complaints, queries and special requests professionally.
Communication & Reporting
- Complete end-of-shirt reports
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven supervisory or team leader experience in a leisure, sports, or visitor attraction venue (ice rink experience advantageous).
- Knowledge of health and safety in public-facing environments.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-footfall setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends and public holidays throughout the contract.
Desirable
- Ice maintenance (resurfacing) experience and Zamboni/ice resurfacer operation knowledge.
- Experience in temporary or event-based attractions.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor, all-weather working environment.
- Shift work including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
- Physical aspects of the role include standing for long periods, manual handling, and ice maintenance tasks.
