Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to join our team at our head office in London. This pivotal role will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our diverse workforce, including full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees. You will report directly to the Head of Finance and work closely with managers across the company to ensure timesheet data is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of Deputy (for rota and timesheet management) and Sage 50(for payroll processing), and will play a key role in maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation and internal processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process across multiple employee types (permanent, contract, seasonal).
- Collate, verify, and reconcile time and attendance data from Deputy.
- Collaborate with department managers to ensure timesheet accuracy and timely submissions.
- Process payroll using Sage 50, including statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), pensions, and other deductions.
- Ensure compliance with all HMRC requirements, RTI submissions, and pension auto-enrolment obligations.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and generate reports for auditing and internal use.
- Respond to employee payroll queries with clarity and professionalism.
- Identify and implement improvements to payroll systems and processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll processing and management, ideally in a multi-contract environment.
- Proficiency in Deputy and Sage 50 is essential.
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, HMRC processes, and pension regulations.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working cross-functionally.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- A recognised payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent) is desirable but not required.
