ABOUT UNDERBELLY
Underbelly is a UK-based live entertainment company founded in 2000 by Ed Bartlam and Charlie Wood that specialises in producing and programming ground-breaking theatrical productions and the creation of city-centre cultural events and festivals across the UK, USA, Asia & beyond.
Underbelly, alongside ATG Productions, is the lead and originating producer of the Olivier Award winning Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, now in its third year in the West End. Recently Underbelly produced Macbeth starring Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma, The McOnie Company’s Nutcracker at the Tuff Nutt Jazz Club at Southbank Centre, La Clique in Manchester & London, Cabaret Royale at the Gaillard Centre in Charleston and the UK tour of Tweedy’s Massive Circus with Tweedy the Clown. Underbelly Boulevard, our first permanent venue, opened in 2023 in the heart of Soho presenting and producing an outstanding variety of cabaret, comedy, circus, music and theatre.
Current live Events are Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe, Christmas in Leicester Square and Underbelly Festival, previously on London’s Southbank, at Earl’s Court and in Cavendish Square. As one of the largest producers at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Underbelly is proud to have previously presented Fleabag in 2013, Six in 2018, Rob Madge’s My Son’s a Queer, (But What Can You Do?) in 2022 and Kathy & Stella Solve a Murder in 2023.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
Based in our London office, you’ll be an integral part of our marketing team, working across all campaigns, providing marketing and administrative support. Projects include various productions including La Clique and Cabaret Royale, Underbelly Boulevard Soho, Summer pop-up events, Christmas in Leicester Square and supporting a separate team on Underbelly at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It's the perfect role for someone who has a year or two experience and looking for the next step in their marketing or arts career.
In this role you will support on all campaigns, working with the team to coordinate the various campaigns working across all aspects from planning to debrief.
As well as working closely with the Marketing Manager and Social Media Officer, you’ll work with our teams internally including Programming, Operations, Partnerships and Production. You’ll also collaborate with on-site temporary staff whilst the festivals are operational such as a Box Office, Front of House, Bar and Site teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Campagin
- Working with the marketing manager on the development of marketing campaigns, including working with external agencies, and providing campaign and administrational support.
- Supporting the marketing manager to effectively deliver event and show marketing materials to brand, on time and on budget. This may include briefing a designer, photographer or videographer and working with them to create assets for the required channels. If you have design skills that would be an extra bonus.
- Managing relationships with companies to coordinate their show marketing requirements as well as assisting the marketing manager on the co-produced show campaigns and bigger festival campaigns.
- Managing relationships with key suppliers and coordinating approvals internally to hit deadlines. This includes printers, digital agencies, out of home, ticket agents and more.
- Assisting with press and PR activity including media monitoring and filing
- Keeping up to date with current marketing, PR, and digital trends.
- Managing the shared Underbelly marketing inbox making sure stakeholders are replied to efficiently and queries are escalated as required
- Working with the marketing managers to maintain budgets and code all invoices with our finance team
Digital
- Working with the social media and content officer to brainstorm ideas that will support the campaign via our organic channels
- Maintain all of Underbelly’s websites making sure the information is up to date. Working with the wider team to set shows live when ready to go on sale and make copy and image edits as needed throughout the campaigns.
- Creating and sending all of Underbelly’s email newsletters, working strategically to segment audiences and use analytics to improve future content
On-Site
- Coordinating on site signage alongside the marketing manager and production team including design, print and installation.
- Working with Underbelly’s Press Agency to escort media on site, assist with photo calls and opening night events.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- A minimum of one to two years’ experience in marketing (agency or client side) preferably in a fast-paced environment. Alternatively, a transferrable role within the Arts and Entertainment sector will also be considered.
- Experience in live experience, festival or show based marketing would be an advantage. A keen interest is a must.
- Excellent organisation and administrational skills.
- You have an excellent eye for detail and are happy proofing and writing copy.
- You must be confident with a busy workload and be able to manage this effectively.
- We need someone who can take initiative and jump straight in where needed.
- You must be able (and happy) to work in a team environment.
- InDesign, Photoshop, HTML and/or Premiere Pro experience would be an advantage (or a willingness to learn).
- Great written and verbal communications skills.
